Waste Minimisation

Promote Dunstan has adopted a waste minimisation policy in conjunction with Central Otago WasteBusters and the Central Otago District Council in an effort to create zero waste. Similar policies have been adopted by many towns and cities for their events. This policy will be part of all events organised by Promote Dunstan.

Please consider the following:

REDUCE – REUSE – RECYCLE

  • The amount of waste produced at public events is huge and much of it such as paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastics, organics – is reusable or recyclable.
  • Use materials which can be composted or recycled. Reduce or eliminate unfriendly materials such as polystyrene food and drink containers.
  • Try to use items that can be re-used.

  • PLEASE DEPOSIT RECYCLABLE AND COMPOSTABLE ITEMS IN THE SEPARATE CONTAINERS PROVIDED IN THE GROUNDS.

Why Promote Dunstan is introducing this policy

Less rubbish means saved resources, longer-lasting and fewer landfills.
Fewer landfills mean more space and better water and air quality
Increased employment created by new and expanding recycling businesses.
Helping protect the environment now and for future generations.

If you require more information about waste minimisation or accessing compostable products such as plates, cups and containers, please contact Central Otago WasteBusters (03) 448-9948 or Sophie Mander at Central Otago District Council  (03) 440-0635.
