The annual New Year’s Eve Street Party takes place in Clyde’s main street, part of which is closed for the event.
Music starts at 9p.m. and continues until 1a.m. Althouigh patronised by a large number of locals and holiday makers it is a secure and safe place for families to welcome the New Year.
The 2007-08 celebrations saw the introduction of a large digital clock counting down to midnight along with a slide show which proved popular with revellers. Food , alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks are available in the street.
Buses leave from outside the Alexandra Visitors Information Centre in Centennial Avenue at 9.30p.m., 10.30p.m., and 11.30p.m. Return trips start at 12.30a.m., then at 1.15a.m. and 1.45a.m. Trips cost $2 each way.
The event is organised by Promote Dunstan and local businesses and to help with expenses, a $2 entry fee is charged.
Under 18 year-olds must be accompanied by an adult at the party and on the bus. Please note that ID may be requested.
Security guards will be present throughout the evening and intoxicated revellers will not be admitted to or allowed to remain at the party.
